Admin method for changing usernames
-Needed for changing your username after a spelling error. Not something I will allow frequently.

Voting and Gold
-A new system is coming to the JMTC forums which will go something like this:
-When a user becomes a premium member (and old premium members will be grandfathered in), they gain 5 votes.
-Votes are always a good thing and can be cast on posts which you really enjoy. Casting a vote for someone will take away one of your votes and give one gold to the poster.
-Gold will be useable to buy frills from an in forum store. This could evolve into some really neat stuff.
-When an item is purchased from the store you will also be awarded 3 votes to keep more votes in circulation on forum goers who are more active members of the community.

This will help promote the creation of useful content.

Sounds fun. Almost like the ArenaJunkies +rep system but with rewards :D

I strongly disagree with a reputation system.
MMOwned is filled with reposts, crap posts and misleading information just for people to get more reputation on that site.

I think people already benefit just by posting on here.
When person A tells something about Glyphs, then person B comes with his method, after that person C gives another suggestion. Most of the time the 3 persons will agree with eachother and try it out and this way all 3 persons got something.

I was a long time Donator on mmowned but the site got really fucked up because of the reputation system, I got banned because I strongly disagreed with someone "gold tips" and told how to do it instead (in a sarcastic way)

Sorry about my bad English, hope u understand ^^

The nice part about this system is that there are no 'negative' votes. All you can do is support each other.

Which is better from the current state as we will only see person A's story while due to many different kind of servers and possible setups, B and C may help a great deal too. :3 Of course the first person would earn more gold as his post existed for a longer period of time and if B and C contribute just a little bit to that post they may earn a few silver too.

Imo I am not going to be as skeptical as I am about most new things, I guess we will just have to see it work out. I don't really care for it. :)

One issue could be when you were to purchase the in-store rewards up front, you will have to take into account all the different WoW regions. I also wonder how you are going to implement such a system into the forums. :P

On MMOwned there also isn't a negative vote (well very high repped users and mods can -rep you if you flame etc)
Problem is all new users go spam like crazy, repost the same stuff over and over. It might go well for a while but once you get big (really big) it will go wrong.

Good points by all, just know that I will not jump into any of these things, i haven't even started looking at coding possibilities as I'm too busy right now. Constructive criticism greatly appreciated.

Well I know on the forums that I run, there is a option (and most forum software now supports this) the use of display names.

The username you choose when you sign up, can never be changed. (unless you edit the Database Table which require access to MySql for) What you could allow is a set number of Display name changes per month (or even make it something part of the vip only feature) So basically I could change my Display name to say Focushot (the name of my main) and on the forums where my name would show, it would show that, but I would still login using my username.

I'm not sure if thats something you can add by an mod or if the feature already exist within the forum frame work itself. I know IPB 2.x+ and Vb 2.x+ both have such features for sure (I myself run IPB 2.x its what I know)

On a note on rep per-post, I was never really a big fan of such things. Mainly being people abuse them, but again it could be something that would be good here, being I dont see any of the "a$$ hats" that I see on other larger community forums.
