Well thing is right now raiders are progressing, on a night at hard-modes i burn through a stack a night with not much effort

with the amount of raiding guilds on my server i can easily sell in stack of 20, on low-pop realms or low-raiding realms i can immagine the market is slightly different, as they dont use as much food

Has anyone had much luck setting up and supplying to raiders that can't wait to upgrade?

It's a method that requires having a large stock of materials, but I find it can be very profitable. Some weeknights I set up shop outside Ulduar or previously Naxxramas with a bag full of spell threads, leg armours, cut gems, flasks and food. This is a trick that works best for an enchanter, as stocking enchant scrolls as opposed to just basic materials can get really expensive and is a much riskier prospect as we have no idea what enchants might sell.

Over the course of the raid night, I send out notes in general about every 2-5 minutes, wooing raiders who just got spiffy new gear to come and get it enhanced right now so they can continue to raid with their new gear without having to take the time to go back to civilization and get it done, as well as providing consumables for people who forgot to shop or didn't buy enough.

When selling in this method, I price my stuff between 5-10% higher than I could get for it on the AH as a convenience tag. This has slowed down somewhat since Ulduar came out, but as more people manage to break through on this content, the better sales get. The downside is you have to know your raiding market very well, or you'll be stocking items that will never sell.

I usually have the following in my bags at the start of the night, and some nights I have to retire early as I sell out;

10-15 each Flask of the Frost Wyrm, Flask of Endless Rage
5-10 Flask of Pure Mojo, Flask of Stoneblood
40 Runic Mana Potion
40 Runic Healing Potion
3 each, Runed, Bold and Delicate Scarlet Rubies, Smooth and Rigid Autumn’s Glow, Solid and Sparkling Sky Sapphires.
2 each, Veiled and Glinting Monarch Topaz, Soverign and Royal Twilight Opals, Jagged Forest Emeralds
20 each; Worg Tartare, Snapper Extreme (hit food), Poached Northern Sculpin (+AP), Spicy Fried Herring (+mp5), Firecracker Salmon (+dps), Blackened Dragonfin (+agi)

I try and do this regularly on Wednesday nights (having hit every guild website I could find for my server to check out their raid times :D) and it’s gotten to the point where I have regular customers, and some raid leaders sending underprepared people out the doors to do some last minute shopping. I make an effort not to be irritating about it (no spamming my services, ignoring jerks etc) and some would be comedians will try and sharpen their teeth on you in general no matter how professional a front you put up, but it’s worth it when the next week they’re coming buy to get a spellthread for the new pants as the raid leader won’t wait for them to go to town for it.
Everyone’s server is different, experiment and see what sells well at the doors to hell on yours!

I MT for my guild and I use 1 Indestructible Potion a boss. Although personally I just buy the herbs to make them but I think if your server has some top guilds Indestructible Potions would most likely be a bigger seller than those on smaller less popular guild servers. Why am I pointing this out? You mentioned they sell for little. On my server Runic Potions sell for dirt since alot of us rather use alternate potions also we get a healthy supply killing mobs during dailies/farming.

intresting extention to the market vchan, tho id never have the time to actually do it
what's the profit you make on that on a wednesday night?

il add spellthreads and armor patches somewhere in the next hours (tho they sell for near material price on my server :o)

and fletz, i said indestructible potions sell less, not FOR less
basicly thats just because you have 3 tanks in a raid, vs 6-7 healers and 15 dps
makes sense there are less people buying

Vchan,

I like your post, and might do it a couple of nights this week to test out. Do you stay outside the portal and pop inside every 5 mins or so to advertise in General chat, then go outside again?

Vchan, that's a brilliant idea. I'd like to add an item to your list though. Eternal belt buckles. Might even sell a few extra gems that way.

Grodus: oooo belt buckles. I hadn't considered belt buckles. This is what I get for not having a blacksmith. Great idea!

Sinthore: I pop in to advertise when I can although not as often as I'll advertise in general outside the instance. Say, once every 10 minutes or so I'll pop in and say hi. One of my favorite tricks with Naxx was to hang out near the graveyard, kill, things randomly, and advertise when a bunch of people suddenly appeared and started flying back up to Naxx.

Antaria: I can sell up to 400-500g of stuff in a night (3 hours) approximately, although some nights it can spike to 2000-3000g.

Its important to remember that this isn't all profit, I'd make slightly less than this (over a longer period of time) if I listed my materials on the auction house, and I could almost certainly make a higher gp/hr if I AH'd this stuff and found a dedicated farming spot for the time spent online instead of hawking items outside instances. But farming spots tend to have competition, and here I can make money and read my book at the same time!

Since the addition of the Chef Hat achievement chefs are far less likely to part with daily cooking awards while they are saving up for their 100 mark award chef's hat (the newest cooking achievement).
When you see a good price (I buy at 1g per spice - no more, ever) BUY.
You easily double your investment and pay for your own personal stash of food out of the profits and still end up ahead.
Fish Feast fluctuates on my server but when it drops below 5g each just buy what you see and re-post it for double (bearing in mind to keep it less than market price.)
good post thanks! Typh
