First I would like to say that this is the second time I come here because of a long brake from WoW and the fact that many have changed ever since.

Where You Are

1. Please list the level, class, race and professions (and skill level) of your main and any alts above level 5 you have on your server, and on other servers if you plan to transfer them to your current server.
Hunter-Main-525- Alchemy
-525-Engineering
Rogue-525-Skinning
-139-Leatherworking
Paladin-525-Mining
-525-Herbalism
Death Knight-525-Jewelcrafting
-300-Enchanting (couldnt raise more due to lack of gold)

2. What type of server are you on (Normal, PvP, RP, RP-PvP) and what is its population level and faction balance?
My server is a Normal one, with a pretty low population level nowadays, it used to be medium but people transfered I guess. Both factions are pretty balanced.

3. How much gold do you have across all your characters? Do you have any large quantity (stockpile) of potentially valuable items?
4k gold roughly atm. Am planing to keep farming with my pally until i get better gold to enter the AH, but then i have no idea what to do.

4. Is there any in-game activity that you absolutely cannot stand and will not do? Approximately how much play time do you have in a typical week?
I will do mostly anything for gold. Time isn't a issue, mostly all of my mornings and afternoons are available , small exceptions in some days.

Where You're Going

5. What is your short term gold making goal (e.g. Buy a Vial of the Sands)? It's best to define goals in specific terms instead of general terms; for instance, "100,000 gold" is specific but "never having to worry about being broke" is too vague to determine if you actually have achieved the goal.
50,000 gold would be a good started and a huge boost of morale to motivate me go further.

6. What is your long term gold making goal (e.g. 100,000 gold)?
150,000 gold, why not even more.

7. Before now, what have you been doing to make gold?
farming, selling valor points things, buying cheap stacks of items from ah, splitting them in 5 and selling them at huge prices. they usually sold, though they didnt bring much money, at begining of cata I used to sell uldum archeology bits, they were very expensive 1300 gold each.also back in wotlk i used to sell gems and the main money maker was selling flasks before raids started.

8. How successful have you been? If you made less gold than you expected, or lost money, please try to describe in as much detail as possible the process you went through and what happened afterward. Remember, more detail is better.
Back in Wotlk I made a nice, constant amount of money each day, 1k gold profit regularly, 2-3k profit on better days, but since Cata I survived while the archeology fragments brought me a nice sum of gold and after prices went down i quit making gold, later on taking a brake from wow itself.

9. What aspects of gold making do you want to learn more about? What research have you done before now?
I don't really know, I have done a lot of research but nobody quite gave me a... exact answer. I'm rather confused now and don't know what to go on with. Alchemy doesn't seem very good nowadays, JC epic gems are 1200 gold and I dont know if i should invest in them( I don;t know if people will pay 2k gold on 1 gem), Enchanting seemed a good way to go but yet again I have no ideea if investing in it is going to be a good idea.
I hope you guys will give me a tip. Point is I don't have much gold to risk atm and I need a good technique that will actually bring me money.

10. What is your tentative strategy for making more gold in the future?
Farming. It took me 1 day to get that paladin to 525 both mining and herb and I plan to farm like mad for a couple of days until i will eventually grow sick of it...

Looks to me like you already know the when-flat-broke-go-farm concept
Put up some nice music ("Live to win") and go ahead, just don't continue untill your sick of it as farming makes the most gold when an xpac releases.
Not that we're waiting for one right now or something /cough Mists Of Pandaria /cough

You could start stocking up on engineering pets (or complete the recipy list), we're playing pocket monsters when MOP releases
Maybe go do some dungeons with that Deathknight of yours and Disenchant it all (just to level enchanting), being able to DE when MOP hits might be nice
Then there's that leatherworking, if you should plan to make some real gold with it in MOP, you might want to farm the leather needed to level it.
Heck, you could even craft to disenchant stuff, that's what I tend to do when prices on the AH go low and I still need to level enchanting.
And then there's the issue of not having all professions yet in that army of yours

Looks to me like you have a nice TODO-list ;) (or a massive burnout incomming  )

Thank you for these tips. Yes it seems I have a lot of things to do besides farming :) The engineering pets probably will bring some cash, also farming for the new expansion, yet I would be looking for some ways to make gold now, in cata, as farming isn't very rewarding because the prices went down, a day of hardcore farming bringing me a max of 2500 to 3000 gold( and I won't be able to hardcore farm very much). What I'm asking is, should I start rushing Enchanting now? I see huge prices on enchants (e.g a boots enchant is 800 gold, weapon enchant 1500g). Or maybe leatherworking? Though I haven't seen much use to it now, it used to be better at Cata launch... Or maybe do something with Alchemy? Jewelcrafting? I have no idea ...

Check out the prices of herbs on your server. Im suprised you don't have a char with inscription yet!

I have been out of the inscription game for a month or so but the prices of herbs have pretty much bottomed out on my server (about 12g/stack for the lesser cata herbs). Mean while the prices of glyphs hasnt changed at all! Depending on your servers competition in the glyph market it is very lucrative, if you have the time to cancel post 2-3 times a day. I was pulling in around 10k/day+ with glyphs alone and around 100k+ every DMF selling completed decks. The addon TradeSkillMaster is your friend - check it out, it's an updated version of quick auctions with great crafting support. This profession will definatley eat most of your time with milling/crafting but the return is really good. When I first picked it up in BC it took about 3k to power level. If you have a friend that has it and can mill cata herbs for you (especially if they are really cheap), you could look at an online guide and use the ink trader to lvl.

Also - with your JC check on the prices of ore/raw gems. Red gems and mixed colors (orange, purple for metas) still sell very well with people grinding LFR. On my server its a 50g profit just buying raw red gems off the AH and cutting them.

Enchanting - Check the prices on dust etc. Hypnotic dust on my server is selling for under 10g a stack! (mainly due to people still trying to do a shuffle imo). It might cost alot to go through the BC/WOTLK levels but your cata enchanting could be really cheap. Enchanting used to be a big player for me back in lich king but I never leveled for cata (after hitting 1mill I just got lazy lol =/ ).

You most likely wont see a good profit on leatherworking this late in the expansion unless you can corner the crafted pvp/leg enchant market, but it would probably do you good in the first couple months of MoP.

If you need start up gold for your inscription (if you head that way) i'd recomend going xmute spec on your alchy and buying some carnelians and transmuting to rubys. Depending on your procs you can make some serious gold. Also primal might xmutes could prove profitable depending on your availability of BC mats (just dont flood the market)

Hope it helps!

Thank you for responding. I have been tempted lately to go inscription as I've seen a lot of people doing horrid amount of gold out of it. I've even started stalking fellow server colleagues through a website that keeps track of all things regarding auction on the respective server( I can't remember the name darnit), and all of them usually had a lot of auctions(over 200-300) most of them glyphs. I'll just have to check what proffesion to delete to replace it with inscription. I'll also boost my enchanting as I've seen this is yet another good money maker. I'm also going to check the addon you suggested, TradeSKillMaster.
All in all, thank you for your tips, I will start boosting up my proffesions and will come back with the results.
