Hey Y'all,

Thanks! I went from 8.4k to 35k gold in 10 days.

A big part of it was just deciding to make the commitment to keep making gold, and not just making enough to buy the next new shiny :)

I have no precise data on what percentage of money I made from what, but I will guesstimate.

40% from sale of raw ore, mostly elementium and a small amount of pyrite.
20% from enchant scrolls
10% gem sales.. some metas, some daily JC greens
10% playing the auction house.. vendor/resale
10% Belt Buckles
10% Other crafted... Engineering Yeti pet, etc....

I could have been easily over 40k, but I used a LOT of the ore I farmed to insta-level BS and Engineering. I also spent probably 1-2k on small "must-haves" for my toons, like a pair of ilvl 325 maces for my newly 85 Rogue.

I now have (all Ally, all the same server):

85 Hunter(main) - LW-508/Skinning - 525
85 Pally - Mining - 525/JC - 525
85 Lock - Tailor - 523/Enchanting - 525
85 Mage - Herbalism - 525/Inscription - 508
85 Deathknight - Mining - 525/Blacksmith - 525
85 Priest - Mining - 525/Engineering - 525
85 Rogue - Herbalism - 525/Alchemy - 525
71 Druid - Mining & Herb (Dual gatherer)
49 Shammy - no proffs to speak of...
45 Warrior - no proffs to speak of...

I am banking some stuff for patch day, but not a lot by the standards of THIS forum :)

I really want to level the Druid, and seriously power-farm, but I am having too much fun making money at the moment! I also would like to get more in-depth on the AH, but my plate is full with what I am doing, so I will pick that up a bit at a time... I also still want to level Tailor (not to mention LW and Inscrip.) I like that I can farm, I can quest, and still make money... made over 5k yester.. making 6k today. Before last week, my personal high was 22k total cash.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply in the OMG & JC forums... This is a BLAST!

Shan

First time poster, long time reader here.

I managed to hit 30k liquid last night for the second time this expansion. The first time i spent most of my gold on leveling inscription+enchanting and buying various BoE epics for my raiding main and alt. Hopefully, I'll be able to keep my income considerably higher than my expenses from now on.

The bulk of my income is from ore shuffling using all the 3 major professions involved. I earn anywhere from 3-6k gold every night by listing all my rare + meta cuts on the AH, doing 1-2 undercut scans and ensuring that I have 3 cuts of each gem/meta up at all times.

I've also dabbled in the glyph market, though I was disheartened by the lack of sales and the competition, so I've turned to mysterious fortune cards instead. They net me around 1000-3000g every time I advertise them on trade.

All in all I've earned about 200k since January but have spent a considerable amount as well. I'm very glad that I found JMTC and the gold making blogosphere in general.

Hit this club about 2 days ago and rushing up now (will be 65k if I can sell this Tsunami and Mechano-hog). I went serious about making gold a few weeks ago and starting reading up on things to do. I started on a wednesday by selling the 3 Abyss Crystals I get from being gear capped at 2.2k rating. I do this ever week and brings a nice 3k a week. Once I had some starting capital, I then began buying and prospecting MASSIVE amounts of Elementium ore (up to 200 stacks an evening) and bringing in 1-2 thousand an evening.

I then began to branch out into other markets. I started selling Cogwheels, Large Brilliant Shards and De-Weaponised Mechanical Companion along with my Elementium SHuffle. Due to prices hitting ROCK BOTTOM for gems and most ench mats, I just prospected it and then cut common gems-> vendor, stockpiled all but Ember and Inferno and AHed those. This got me to about 18k quite quickly. On a whim, I bought Tsunami deck for 12000 and Hurricane for 5000 to resell to essentially reset myself down. I then began another slow climb up further.

Selling alot of Brilliant Shards and Pets brought me back to 13k. I then decided to race change to Goblin. The racial would help in PvP (I was Belf and played Warlock) and then it would open me up to Mechano Hogs which were selling for 16k on my server. I then farmed every single market most evenings bringing about 5k an evening and I am currently *looks at WoW screen* 31,243g with ~15k locked up in a Tsunami and ~14k in a Mechno-hog on the AH so not too bad. Can hopefully hit 100k soonish.

Currently at 33k liquid. Was at 60k, but I just reactivated my account and recently hit 85... bought epics/rares to help gear my toon. Mostly from Shuffling Obsidium into enchanting mats, and selling the rare procced jewelry. Though my initial burst of gold was due to what I had stocked before deactivating my account... Greater Eternal Essences and Illusion Dust, which both pretty much tripled in price (Was at 5k when I reactivated.)

I tried selling enchant scrolls, but the profit margin just wasnt there compared to selling the raw mats., so I pretty much just stick to selling Hypnotic Dust and Greater Celestial Essences.

Not much stocked aside from Pyrite Ore and a ton of rare gems. Also a few other faction Argent Tourney pets, and some out of print recipes that Ill hold on to for a few more months.

I was tired of always just getting by on gold. I didn't have to do more than some daily heroics to keep up on gold, but it also did not allow me to purchase any epics or whatnots from the AH to improve my char, and flask prices weren't cheap either.

So I started considering what I briefly did in Wotlk. Farm herbs, mill them into Darkmoon cards, make decks and sell them (or use them). And then I started really thinking about how far I could potentially get with this plan, considering decks were selling for nice amounts. I figured I'd farm a solid amount of herbs, check their market value, mill it and see what amount of inks I would get out of it, and how many cards came from this as a result. I decided that if I could stick with it, eventually I would net at least 1 deck and a lot of spare cards/doubles. Then sell the deck, potentially (if it made sense money wise) purchase more mats to continue milling and complete more decks.

Long story short, the plan worked and after about two months I was sitting at 80K gold give or take, with 3 trinkets in use by myself. So then I figured, now I have some real gold, lets see how to make it grow even further. And so it was that I found this website, and many more, and have been trying out different markets on my server. I'm currently not very wel organised yet, selling on multiple chars and don't have a good overview. I might have to look into some addons to keep track of income/expenditures, but also to help me spot markets faster, assess prizes and profits and automate auction posting.

I'm having a lot of fun though with something I wasn't really interested in before.

Thanks for sharing knowledge, tricks, tips and everything else ;)

In all my time here, this is the first time I've visited this forum. It's more encouraging to read people's stories than I thought it would be!

One of my own ideals is to not compare my own journey with that of other goblins; especially when you consider the casual nature of my play. However, I hit 30k quite a while ago, and slowly but surely made my way up to 75k liquid, depositing 5k at a time into the bank.

Now, well, maybe it's best to just read my blog entry on the matter. Long story short, I'm sitting at 30k liquid again but have minor investments for 4.2. If my investments fail I will have to take another approach and just try to climb back up towards 75k before branching out and finding areas that work for me. If 4.2 smiles upon me, I may just break my second milestone of 100k!

So, thanks to all the contributors around this part of the goblisphere. I may not measure up to the bigwigs but I have been learning these past eight months, even if there are still many basic things to learn (such as how to better utilise my time, and how to not get overwhelmed with everything at my fingertips).

One thing I can say for sure though: trying to make gold has produced a lot more patience in my own pursuits.
