I've got an odd passion for farming, particularly of the AoE variety. One of my farming projects for Cataclysm is a Prot Paladin I have who's currently 525 Skinning/525 Tailoring. I've made some excellent gold farming skinning locations in particular, and I've had some fair luck with cloth farming as well.

But now I'm looking for a way to utilize both of my professions at the same time instead of just one or the other. So I wanted to reach out to the community here and see if anyone knows of a place that has a decent mix of mobs that both have a chance to drop cloth and can be skinned.

There are plenty of places where I can farm in This Location for cloth and then fly a short distance in some direction to farm That Location for leather, which works, but it's not really what I'm looking for.

Any places come to mind?

Obsidian Forest in Twilight Highlands is stuffed full of Dragonkin who you can skin for Savage Leather and Blackened Dragonscale. It's also a quest hub, (though it's very late in the quest chain) so you will sometimes find other people killing mobs here, increasing the amount of skinning you can do.

Nearby is the beach head with a constant stream of humanoids you can kill for cloth.

As for locations where you can do both at once, I'm coming up empty.

I think you're a bit late for your particular profession Combo. The Stone Bats along with the Jaspertip "nublets" (forget their name atm :) ) in Deepholm was the perfect thing foryou, alas, both have been nerfed (Bats cannot be skinned, humanoids dont drop as much cloth as they used to).

Cloth typically drops off ( or drops more ) from humanoids and undeads , rarely, if ever, from beasts which you basicly need for your skinning.

So in short, eventhough I might be wrong, its very unlikely to find mobs that drop off cloth which you can skin after looting.
The suggestion of the closeby areas with one hub of beasts and one hub of humanoids is your best bet most likely.

This sounds like an interesting possibility for a zombie leatherworking skill. Skinning humanoid flesh would make for an evil twist to the game. Something that warlocks or the Forsaken would be interested in. Let's petition Blizzard to allow us to skin humanoids to cater to the dark side.

I've managed to find a couple of spots where it's somewhat decent, though still not all that great.

So far Deepholm is the best place I've found for getting both in the same place thanks to troggs and their basilisk mounts. There aren't a whole lot of basks there though, mostly just the troggs. I scored 215 Embersilk in 45 minutes, but barely a stack of the leather.

Hyjal isn't too bad once you've completed most of the quests there. The camp where you summon the dragon and fight them near the lava pit has been the best place there as the pin with the drakes in it have a very fast respawn rate and there are humanoids pathing around the area at all times. Still not great though.

I'd like to know where to just farm skinning. Anyone know a fast area to get leather? They really made it slow from what I've seen. 1 piece of leather per mob. 1 mob every 45ish seconds. >.<

There's not a great place for farming multiple skins from multiple mobs in rapid succession. Everywhere that came even close to that has been nerfed. If you're a tank then you can hit a couple of worg packs (I think there are 8 in each) in Twilight Highlands that you can AoE down pretty easily for multiple skins in a row, but there's only the two packs and they don't respawn all that fast.

Your best bet for consistent skins in a fairly small area is Tol Barad right after a battle.

There are a few skinnable dragonkin that drop cloth, particularly in Deepholm, but they don't look like they spawn in abundance. The landbound dragonkin in the south of Twilight Headlands don't, unfortunately.

There are skinnable humanoids, including a few that look human, but they don't drop cloth.

Unfortunately wowhead doesn't allow you to search for monsters that drop cloth and are skinable in the same search.
