A couple days ago I rounded up all the items to go from 1-450 Jewelcrafting for about 4k. Within 10minutes of using the guild bank idea, I sold the kit for 5k.
Here's more info about what I did.

Great! i'm going to do some comparisons on the levelling guides for blacksmithing and try it out myself!

I would suggest Alchemy. You can get the list here: http://www.wow-professions.com/wowguide ... guide.html . Also, all the items fit in guild bank tab(I didn't count the vials), which makes it easy to sell.

I thought about doing it this way:

Have the person who you are selling the kit to join the guild (can use an alt)
After the person makes sure everything is there, deposit the money
Raise the ranking so the toon had access to that tab.

To avoid the person being suspicious, you can say in chat that by depositing "x" amount of gold into the bank, the person is purchasing all the contents in tab 1. This way, if you try to scam the person, Blizzard can check the chat logs and recover the money.

AlexS: One more thing, hate to be a downer, but your kit only levels someone to 436. You're missing ALL the mats to make flasks from 435 to 450. One of the downsides to the wow-professions.com guide for Alchemy is that they DON'T list the mats for 435 to 450. Flask of the Frost Wyrm is cheapest on my server, so that's what I offer.

Yep, I noticed ( Just used one of my kits). I only got stuck at one point with the kit, but that could have been my fault. I was watching a movie and at the end i had mats left over 0.o Those 15 levels were cake though, 15 flasks : /

To those who tried selling:

How are the results? Any criticisms?

It works. I've sold two so far, 5k each. My biggest problems are Golden Sansam and Goldclover. Just not enough spawn points, unless you know of a secret spot!

I am getting Golden Sansam from Hellfire Peninsula. I tried Azhara, but it was too slow. HFP with an epic flier is MUCH faster, but there just aren't enough of them. Goldclover from Scholazar Basin, but same thing, few noeds among MANY nodes of Adder's Tongue and Tiger Lily.

Borean tundra your goldclover

use routes+gathermate+gathermate data (and make sure you follow the instructions on the curse page on how to set up the routes, it takes some tweaking to actually get it to flow nicely)

The only comments I've really gotten about it is "why buy it for 5k when you can get all the mats for 2.5k" which isn't really true, it costs about 4k to make a JC kit on my realm, and "who's going to pay 5k for Jeweler's Kit?" which was a misunderstanding.

Other than that I don't get many comments about it.

If anyone is really serious about starting up a profession kit selling business on their server, either reply here or PM me and I'll send you my fairly extensive spreadsheets, macros, pictures, methods. I'm hoping to find some people to collaborate with on how to make this more efficient, where to throw in extra mats, and when to hold onto items and stockpile.

What I really want from a profession leveling kit/guide is to be able to resell the crafted items and recoup as much of my investment as possible, and preferably, to come out ahead. Not even the venerable guides at wow-professions.com entirely succeed at this, though they are the best I've found so far.

In part, this means:

  • Wherever possible I don't want to craft more than 5 of an item unless it's a very fast seller.
  • Wherever possible I want to craft only 1 of any particular item. (I think I crafted 40 Green Iron Bracers; this isn't conducive to making gold.)
  • Wherever possible the items I craft should not be those crafted in mass quantities by other levelers.
  • I am willing to travel to vendors in faraway places to get recipes for this purpose.
  • I am NOT willing to grind reputation to gain access to a recipe solely for profession leveling (though for endgame is fine).
  • Wherever possible I should always be leveling on orange recipes so that I know exactly how many mats I need.

In practice I've taken the leveling guides as a general guideline, and deviated from them whenever I thought I could make gold from a skillup instead of losing gold, even if this meant buying more expensive mats. For instance, Barbaric Bracers in Leatherworking isn't likely to be in anyone's profession leveling guide, but those things can sell for 100g or more, and at level 30 that's some money. :) Spidersilk Boots and Spidersilk Drape in Tailoring are another good example. 25 orange skillups and 25-100g profit each. Those I would make 25 of, and sell 1 or 2 at a time...
