There are a few threads where people post what they've bought. Popular choices include Traveler's Tundra Mammoths, epic flying for alts, Jaina's Lockets, Portable Holes, Ulduar drakes, Mimiron's Heads, Crimson Deathchargers.... mounts tend to go for a lot. :P The upside is that an expensive/rare mount is pretty visible too. For example, I ride a Deathcharger and a Blazing Hippogryph, because I'm a showoff.

Invest your money, but remember that it's lots of fun to spend it and show off what you've accomplished!

BOOOM Finally hit the goldcap yesterday afternoon! Took me almost exactly 4 months to do.

Started with 3k and a 450 jewelcrafter with a few epic cuts. During these 4 months I've powerleveled inscription and a xmute alchemist (and I've got the mats to finish enchanting if I can just level the dude 4 more stinking levels lol). Other than that, I didn't do any spending other than raw mats.

A couple of things I picked up along the way:

1. Diversify. Even if you've got a surefire moneymaker (like, cardinal rubies made up half of my revenue) you're going to have dry spells...either some idiot posts below your threshold for a week, or you run out of mats for days (both happened to me several times!). You need to be able to have your fingers in different pies to smooth out the income flow.

2. Dominate. Although it helps do diversify, for every market you get into you need to have the mindset of "I'm going to own these bitches". Don't go in half ass. Part of my success was I smothered the market...I drove quite a few competitors out because I pretty much completely cut off their sales. Be prepared to make enemies, but be professional (or even better, be quiet!)

3. Never stop buying mats. If the price is good, buy it. Otherwise, it's guaranteed that some day there will be lot of sales and you will run out of mats. Find suppliers and keep them on your friends list. Remind them all the time that you're buying. Be friendly and courteous when talking to suppliers.

I'd like to thank everyone on these forums, and also the website wowconfidential.com. Between those two I learned how to set up and configure addons that really make the difference, and picked up on some really insightful tips that have helped pad my revenue considerably.

Not going for 500K or anything like that...goldcap is plenty fine for me! My goal is to continue making money, maintain above 200K in the bank, and start preparing for Cataclysm (buying Portable Holes for my main characters, profession "leveling kits" for my goblin, maybe some decent BoE levelling gear, etc)...and of course, building up a stockpile of mats to resell once the xpac hits!

Finally!!!! Hit gold cap yesterday.

The only really notable part of my acheivement is that I play on a very low population realm, Gundrak. I only know of one other gold capped player on my faction. So I hope this inspires anyone on a low pop realm who wonders if they too can hit goldcap. You can!

Thanks for all the advice available on these forums. To other players on low pop realms my advice would be to always plan ahead and to diversify into as many markets as you can. There is always gold to be made in the big markets but you can earn even more if you control the niche markets as well.

Congrats to all who have hit the cap! I'm so close I can almost taste it....

If I hadn't gone for the 100 mount achieve I would have been well past the cap at the moment (Damn achieve cost me ~75k). Currently up to 168k, with about 4k in the mail to pick up. Another 10-12 days and I should be at the cap, I can't wait!

Ding.

Started out with 3k and full Inscription and BS on may 7th. Made about 90% from glyphs and the rest from belt buckets and other random stuff.

=)

Ding...again. Didn't see this post the first time around. Spent a good chunk of coin on things for the wife, mounts, and other such fun, which slowed things down a bit.

Reached the cap about 10 minutes ago, and of course this is the first place I went. I want to thank everyone here for all of their help, especially Markco and all the admins. I would've been at 350k by now if it wasn't for gear and stuff, but hey, I would've never started gold-making if it wasn't for that "inspiration".

I got there using JC, inscription, alchemy, enchanting, as well as some tailoring and smelting. Next stop, 500k!

Officially gold capped as of 3:30 PM today!

Gems and Enchants are my key gold makers, along with Titansteel Bars, and of course the occasional flipping of items (Primordials, Gear, Vanity Items, etc). I'll probably buy myself an Orb Of Deception and then move on to leveling the army of alts to cap before making more gold. Thanks to all of you in this great community for helping me reach my goal!
