Recently I've noticed that often when I'm using the AH WoW seems to freeze up for a bit. It's just been happening the past day or so, and I'm not sure what's causing it. Is this a common problem with Auctioneer, and how can I remedy it?

I'm guessing you just turned on a few more options in Auctioneer, or added some other memory hog add-on.

Auctioneer eats your system's brains. Turn some options off that you don't intend to use or expect this to continue.

All addons will affect your performance. You make it sound new, though, so I'd look to see if you've added any new addons or programs to your computer that might be causing the conflict.

Well, Until recently I played on a laptop that commonly suffered from lag in raids or Dalaran. I have a new one that runs WoW fine, even in 25 man raids. The only time it lags is when AucAdv is "processing". WoW basically freezes for 20-30 seconds. Other applications on my computer still work fine during this time.

I'm going to recommend you visit the auctioneer website for further assistance. http://forums.norganna.org/4/

For the laptop being slow, if you're running vista or later, you can use a USB flash drive that's ready boost capable to improve performance. Laptops have slow hard drives and that affects a lot of things, especially zoning and the like.

I don't think it can be a problem with my laptop. The only thing that slows down is WoW, and it's only during AucAdv processing. I'm posting this as it's happening. WoW is frozen, my email, internet and everything else are working fast as normal. What does AucAdv do, and can I just disable it?

**edit** it doesn't actually "freeze" WoW, it just completely lags for like 20 seconds. **edit**

I had the exact same problem and went to Auctioneer forum where one the developers helped and explain what happens.

Quote:
"QuickAuctions2 doesn't directly affect Auctioneer files, but there are a couple of known problems.
First if you cancel a lot of auctions and repost them, the cancelled auctions do not get removed from Auc-ScanData until you do an Auctioneer full scan - and one thing that people use QA2 for is to cancel lots of auctions.
Second there was a bug in Auctioneer's scanning engine which QA2 just happened to trigger - this could cause duplicate copies of Auctions in Auc-ScanData, though I'm not sure of the scale of that problem"

Solution is simple, run fast getall scans has often has you can and they will clean the duplicate entrances and remove the freeze during scans.

hope this helps

I wish I replaced Auctioneer with Auctionator a long while ago.

I think auctioneer became too big now, at least for me. I had long loading times, BeanCounter Time on each 50 mails batch + lags on mails retrieval + BIIIIG lag when using QA3 to post/cancel + lag when searching the AH

I completely deleted Auctioneer and moved to Auctionator wich do not give me any lag and still offers me a quick and easy way to buy things ( Buying Lists are sweet ) or to sell the occasional item i don't sell with QA3

I don't say Auctioneer is bad but it was a lot too much for me, even if I tried to activate only the minimum I used.

When I used Auctioneer I got a 50 mails batch in 50-60 secs now I get them in 20-30 secs. That mean a lot when you do thousands of mails a day, every day.

I binned auctioneer a long time ago and now use auctionator and QA instead. There are a few minor feature missing compared to auctioneer but the resource use is minor compared to the resource hog that auctioneer is and on the whole it is more efficient and flexible than auctioneer alone.
