1. What level, class and race is your main? What professions does your main have and what level are they? Do your professions have specializations (e.g. Elixir Master Alchemy; Goblin Engineering)? Did you choose your professions in order to maximize your character's stats or to provide raid utility, and/or does your guild require you to choose specific professions?

85 Human priest - 509 enchanting + ~220 tailoring
enchanting was chosen because of ring enchants and ability to DE quest items for some cash
Tailoring was chosen because I want an awesome flying carpet and the tailoring only weaves for legs and back

2. What alts do you have (on both factions)? What professions do they have? Are they on separate WoW accounts?

70 NE druid on another server
bunch of lowbies on main server - thinking about leveling up another druid for gathering and a hunter/shaman for 2 more profession slots

3. What type of server are you on (Normal, PvP, RP, RP-PvP) and what is its population level and faction balance?

Normal server

4. If applicable, have you learned any rare or unusual profession recipes (examples: Lifelike Mechanical Toad; Enchant Weapon - Mongoose)?

Nothing yet

5. How much gold do you have across all your toons on each faction/WoW account?

~9000

6. Do you have a large quantity (stockpile) of any particular items? For this, a large quantity means at least 40 bag slots dedicated to a single item or class of related items. If so, which items are these?

I have quite a lot of lower enchanting materials as well as some scrolls that are from wrath. I have a bunch of cloth that I was piling up for leveling tailoring up

7. What is your short term gold making goal (e.g. Buy a Vial of the Sands)? What is your long-term gold making goal (e.g. 100,000 gold)? It's best to define goals in specific terms instead of general terms; for instance, "100,000 gold" is specific but "never having to worry about being broke" is too vague to determine if you actually have achieved the goal.

short term goal: 50k -- long term goal: 250k+

8. Would you prefer to make gold by crafting, farming, dailies, auction house, using trade chat, something else? All of the above? Is there any in-game activity that you absolutely cannot stand and will not do? Approximately how much play time do you have in a typical week?

I would prefer to make gold through crafting and the AH. I don't have tons of time consistently to do farming/dailies but if I need to spend some time doing that I will. I hate trade chat, it should die :). My play time varies greatly with my job but I usually have at least an hour a day, up to 4 hours in a day.

9. Before now, what have you been doing to make gold? How successful has it been? If you made less gold than you expected, or lost money, please try to describe in as much detail as possible the process you went through and what happened afterward. Remember, more detail is better.

Up to now most of my money was from DEing quest items and buying some lower ilvl gear off the ah and DE/resell. For the most part I have been profiting but it only works for as many items are on the AH that can be DE'd for profit. I haven't been selling scrolls on the AH because most of them are a loss with cost of mats. Tailoring I have done nothing with as its not maxed. I have browsed around the forums a bit here and found that a good combination of profs would be to have 2 gathering on one toon, and supplement with alch, enchanting, JC.

I would like so input as to what thoughts you guys have and what I should do to go about making some more cash :) I know that it doesn't happen over night and that it will require some work input from myself but everything in life (and wow) is like that so I am prepared to work at it a bit!

Also, any addons that I should be using? Right now I use lilsparkysworkshop, auctioneer, and a mass mailing addon.

Thanks in advance dudes!

Seeing that you want to make gold by crafting items and posting on the AH, well sorry to say but you need to get most professions close to 525 to be 250k+ successful, unless you got a good friend that is willing to make you stuff to sell.

The profits listed below are server based.

Blacksmithing 525, 2000+ gold a day.
Tailoring 525, 1000+ gold a day.
Alchemy 525, 1000+ gold a day.
Jewelcrafting 525, 2000+ gold a day.'

These prices are based on less than an hour a day on the AH.

I saw that you were considering on leveling another druid to use as a gatherer, this would be the most convenient way to get the starter gold to level up professions and get more diverse.

If you have any questions, please reply and I will answer to the best of my ability.

Yeah I know I need to have 525 skill level to make more money :P so that should be my first goal I think. How does one make money through tailoring? Bags and threads?

Yeah I'm thinking druid for gathering because of gathering abilities in flight form would make it faster than any other class by quite a bit. I'm also thinking I need 2 more slots for professions and was looking at JC and Alchemy.

Do you have any tips on tailoring and enchanting which are the two professions my current 85 has?

I would also be interested in flipping ah items but I feel like I need more than 9k gold to do so.

Tailoring: Level this up IMMEDIATELY. You're missing mass quantities of gold by not being at maximum level. Once you get them, do your Dreamcloth cooldowns every week. These are what Tailors use to make epics, no Chaos Orbs required!

Enchanting: Buy all the recipes from the Twilight Highlands vendor; at the moment these are the only max-level recipes which have a chance of turning a profit.

You're lucky in that neither of these professions requires Chaos Orbs, though if you're running heroics regularly you're probably going to wind up with a massive stock of them. I suggest NOT making Dreamcloth with them, but saving them; five orbs for one Dreamcloth is utterly absurd, and sooner or later Blizzard will either change this, or make them no longer BoP.

Bags and spellthreads mostly. With max tailoring you can use the dreamcloths for either spellthreads or for making epic armor. The il339 starter pvp rare armor set may sell well on your server. Its better than a lot of early quest rewards and can get you into heroics quicker. Check your AH prices on these items for a week or so to gauge prices. Some pieces sell better than others so you'll see some odd price differences even though the mats are the same.

JC and alchemy are both great, especially together and coupled with enchanting.

YMMV but, the only scrolls I have luck with are off-hand int, the stats to chest that takes 2 lesser celestial essences, weapon - mending, and weapon - hurricane. I have better luck with older scrolls. Stealth to cloak is a big moneymaker, as is spellpower to weapon, crusader to weapon, int to weapon, and agility to weapon. Mongoose also continues to sell well for me.

If there's too much dust on the AH or if you have too much from your disenchanting, consider dumping some into embersilk bags if profitable.

Start small. One example would be archaeology tokens. I can almost always get 50-75% more out of them just by buying and relisting.

Speaking of archaeology, if you are doing it or doing something else that requires you to travel around a lot like loremaster, pick up the addons Gathermate 2 and RecipeProfit. It'll help point out all of the rare recipes you can buy at various vendors and then in turn relist them on the AH for 3-5x the price you paid. I find it easier to pick them up while in the neighborhood as opposed to going out specifically to pick them (and vendor pets) up as the profits high enough to invest that kind of time.

Excellent plan you seem to be homing in on: to level a dual gatherer, plus another toon to allow for 4 crafting slots. This allows Dual Gatherer + JC+Alch+Ench + prof of your choice.

Leveling all toons as dual gatheres will allow you to level them as quickly as possible and still get a moderate income from profs (as opposed to LOSING gold and time by leveling as crafting). This also allows you to gather the mats you will want when it comes time to level your JC and Alchemist.

As was said: Level Tailoring.

You want JC + Alch to go with your Enchanting; and the biggest gold will be made earlier in the expansion, so time is of the essence. You have plenty of time to get in on the good stuff, even if it takes you 3 months to get to 85; but, if it does take you that long, you do not have the time to wait 3 months to get started.

Don't forget your Pre-Cata weapon enchants, like Fiery, Lifestealing, Crusader, Savagery, +INT, +AGI, + Spell Power, and the like. My Enchanter makes most of her gold off of these, even though I can sell Hurricane and other Cata SoEs.

The good news is that your Tailor/Enchanter can make decent gold. I am not even trying hard (as i have other toons and profs to level/gear), but still make about 300/day off the Enchanter and 100/day off the Tailor (plus have about 30 dreamcloth stacked up and just dinged 84 on the Tailor, so can finally get access to the neat designs).

So, an income stream of 400/day will help fund leveling your other profs. Once you have those other profs in place, 500/day will be a disappointing day. Even at that rate, it would only take 100 days to ding 50K.
