1) What class and level is your main?

Druid - 80

2) What are your professions and what level?

Alchemy 450, JC 450.

3) If applicable, do you have a specialisation (e.g. elixir spec alch)?

Elixir spec alch, shadowweave tailor.

4) Have you learnt any unusual recipes that are of value?

Just a few epic gems - Bold and runed cardinal ruby, stalwart ametrine, champion's ametrine, defender's dreadstone. I have some recipes I've learned from inscription books I've got in random heroics, but not many, and not really ones that are used often. Have transmute: dreadstone, ametrine, cardinal ruby (dont use cardinal ruby, eternal fire prices are too high to do so. Usually transmute ametrines).

5) Do you have any alts or access to toons with professions?

Tailoring 435, Mining 450 (one alt, mage), Inscription 431(another alt, shammy), , Enchanting 350 (enough to DE all wotlk greens, anothernother alt, DK)

All level 80.

6) How much capital do you have to work with (<1k, Up to 2k, Up to 5k, 10k?)
Up to 3.5k.

7) What has been your current money making strategy until now?
Selling a few epic gems, (tried) to sell glyphs, selling ebonweave/moonshroud/spellweave. I have many alts but I need the primo saronite atm for some epic leggings im trying to get =)

8) Do you prefer dailies, farming, crafting or playing the AH for gold?

Crafting and/or playing the AH - come hand in hand really.

9) What is your short term gold target or goal (e.g. buy an epic mount)?

Would really like to be around 30-50k, basically enough so I can keep a float to make more gold with, and to buy most/any epic item I would like ^^

10) Have you tried any strategies in this forum? If so what worked and what didn't?

Before epic gems came in I was in a good market with selling rare gems and prospecting saronite. Now that epic gems are around, (and i dont really have many recipes due to having exams etc at the critical period) I can't really sell the rare ones off, and I dont have the float to be able to buy and prospect titanium. Mining is crap for farming, as you're only farming what profit you can't net at the AH - e.g. the saronite bar vendor price or a little more. Titansteel bar = mat cost, so i can only sell the cooldown to other people. I sell the cloths on a 3 day timer from my mage, and some epic gem transmutes etc, and I get by, but I'd like to be able to buy an epic when I see it, and not have to spend two weeks farming for primo saronite by doing dailies and weeklies with 3 alts (which will soon be outdated, like crusader orbs are now). I also craft/sell gems I get from triumph emblems, but this doesn't net much. I tried breaking into the glyph market, but I'm always either selling my glyphs at a loss, or they just don't sell. I consider myself a good PvE'er, and as such know somewhat about the level 80 market, and what gems (should) sell, what glyphs (should) sell, etc.

The plethora of guides on here and forums is too much information for me to take in and process. I've looked at some of the stickies, and the only thing I got out of them was the splitting strategy, which doesn't seem to work that well on my server - many stacks sell for more per item than the singles, and I looked at quite a lot of different items. If I could get some advice as to how to manage my professions, take control of them, and get ~50k, I'd be really happy. I know it takes effort and time - I have that, mostly - I cannot game 24/7 as I'm in uni. I cannot be on wow at these times:

Mon: 11-2
Tues: 10-1
Weds: 11-12, 3-4
Thurs: 10-6
Friday: 10-2

If that makes any difference/help.

I obviously have to do work outside of lectures, but I can base my gold-making time around that. I also have raids prolly 4/7 days, which start at 7:30, which I need repairs/flask money/food money for, which is what I spend most of the money I have on, minus a little I can keep away. ALL times are in WoW time.
I know how to work auctioneer basically, but most of the functions on there I do not know how to use effectively. I'm currently sitting at 4.5k, so I can use 3.5k of that for making gold, as I want to keep 1k back for replacing epic gems I need/repairs/flasks etc.

EDIT: Forgot to add - im on a low pop realm. Figured this would be the best place to put this.

I appreciate you taking the time to read this, and I hope you can help me!

Sincerely,

Jarob

1. Do your daily Inscription Research and JC Quest to get new Cuts/Glyphs.
2. Get cheap herbs and raw epicgems (AH, /2, transmutes)
3. Use KTQ to craft profitable Glyphs/Gems
4. Post glyphs 2-3 times a day with a 5g threshold and 12h auctions (EDIT: Post with QA3)
5. Post Gems before and after raid times
6. Read the profession forum regularly
7. Enjoy your profit

When you have enough gold, max out your enchanting skill and repeat those steps with enchanting scrolls.
Keep this in your mind: Playing the AH is about quantity.

I don't have any mats to do the daily inscription thing - should I just buy them?

What's KTQ, and is there a guide on here to using it?

Will this net me the ~50k I'm looking for, or is this more a 5-10k profit guide?

EDIT: Also, what's a threshold? I don't see that on auctioneer..

EDIT2: Trying to find the best cuts which sell well for the most is very time-consuming - I would have to go through each gem, write it down in notepad, along with the raw gem price, then look at each over a week or so..is there any addon which can do this/help me do this for me?

Thanks again!

Buy Herbs, mill them, craft Inks. You will use this materials for your glyph business too.
Only use Northend Herbs to produce Inks, you can trade cour Ink of the Sea for lower level Inks at Jessica Sellers in Dalaran.

Addon Section -> viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1091

There is no magic thing that gets you 50000 gold in 2 days without effort. Remember the quantity thing. This regards time too.

Sorry I forgot to mention that you should use QA3 to post glyphs. Threshold is an option that lets you decide what your minimum price for the specific item is.
If you want to know more abot those addons, read the addons section.

I use the QA3 summary window to decide which cut I should pick next time. It's very simple to compare with the Auctioneer tooltip (seen count and average price numbers are your friends).
http://www.wowpopular.com could be a nice help too, if you are not shure.

Ok, so.

I am going to find some sellers and buy me lots of herbs. I'll then mill, now I have lots of ink. How can I find out which glyphs sell the best without wasting too much gold? I don't have *that* big a float - only 3.5k, and without posting significant amounts of many different glyphs, I can't know which will sell well and which won't. If the only method is - try, then sure, I'll try it out and see what glyphs sell best, but if anyone with experience/tips/addon would like to suggest something to me, I'd be very willing to listen!

Thanks,

Jarob

www.wowpopular.com

But here is something you should think about later:
Let's assume Adder's tongue cost you 20g per stack (that is more than twice I would pay on my server...)
One stack gives 6 Ink of the Sea and one Snowfall Ink.
With an investment of 2000g would you get 600 Ink of the Sea, that should be enough to produce at least one of every glyph you are able to make and have 100 Snowfall Ink left to sell or to make cards with.

If it is profitable or not depends on your server economy. Just do the math.
Card making is RNG based. With only 3.5k could it happen, that you sit on your nobles deck for a week or two because nobody (besides new characters and twinks) needs them.

"Is making darkmoon card of the north a good bet? Tarou's videos shows him making a killing from them.."

Do not do anything this person says. Warning. Do not do what this person says. The guides offer little to no useful information other than "Craft items, post them." The guides were written nearly a year ago. Completely worthless.

Let's use some pretend math here. Let's say Eternal Life costs 20g. Ink of the Sea is worth 2g. Snowfall Ink is worth 10g. That means it costs 126g50s to make one darkmoon card. There are four decks. Each deck has eight cards. Basically, only Nobles cards are worth anything. So you have a 1/4 chance in getting a nobles card. Even if you make 32 cards, you're probably not going to end up with Ace->Eight of nobles. But, if you assume that you meet the average and will end up with 8 nobles cards in 32 crafts and then trade your extras for cards you need - it will cost 4048g to make a Nobles Deck. (In actuality, it will probably cost more to make this deck - but you can probably sell the other decks for 500g or something) How much are Nobles decks going for on your server? On my server, it's no longer profitable to make these things.

Just to clarify, I believe Ryan is referring to Tarou, not Tundreo. Tundreo's provided a lot of info that I would agree with.

Secondly, it needs to be pointed out that there is a limited amount of uses for Snowfall ink. Other than straight up selling them on the AH, you can either craft off-hand items, do research, make buff scrolls, or darkmoon cards. There's not a lot of use. If you can't sell them, making darkmoon cards is not a bad option if you have Ink of the Sea sitting around. If your snowfall ink is collecting dust, making cards is better than nothing.

Finally, your calculations (assuming 4048g will make 1 of each card, which is never does) would make not just 1 Nobles deck, but 4 decks - yes, some aren't worth as much as the nobles deck, but I've sold Darkmoon Card: Death for 1500g before. If you add up all the decks, assuming 32 unique cards, is worth ~6500g on my server. Not bad for using Snowfall ink you're going to be overwhelmed with if you start up an inscription business.
