I've decided to create some profession "leveling kits". Any ideas as to WHICH profession (Alchemy vs JC vs Tailoring), and then what to charge for it?

Realistically, if I charge a flat fee (say 6k) that includes all mats, any special recipes, and of course a premium for my farming time, will people pay that?

I'd try just doing a starter kit first.... say 1-200. My question would be how to divide up the payments so that neither you nor the buyer felt yourself to be at risk. I wouldn't do "special" patterns.... just the basic power levelling package.

As for best profession to start with... I have an instinct that blacksmithing is the most intimidating to me so I'd say that might be a good place to start. Especially if you can do it for a nice round number of gold that doesn't sound intimidating.

I would suggest Alchemy. You can get the list here: http://www.wow-professions.com/wowguide ... guide.html . Also, all the items fit in guild bank tab(I didn't count the vials), which makes it easy to sell.

I thought about doing it this way:

Have the person who you are selling the kit to join the guild (can use an alt)
After the person makes sure everything is there, deposit the money
Raise the ranking so the toon had access to that tab.

To avoid the person being suspicious, you can say in chat that by depositing "x" amount of gold into the bank, the person is purchasing all the contents in tab 1. This way, if you try to scam the person, Blizzard can check the chat logs and recover the money.

Scantron: Interesting idea. I might "stage" the available kit, for example, from 1-200 charge "x" gold, then from 201 to 350, "x", etc.

AlexS: HEY - that looks like MY guild bank tab!

So you guys would NOT provide the vials? And what about COST - what could something like this go for? I'm thinking an "x"% above the value of the herbs, then a fee for the farming time. I LOVE the idea of the deposit - then the guild rank, great idea.\

Using the Undermine Journal (quite possibly one of the best sites for AH data EVER), I calculated the AVERAGE prices for every Alchemy Mat over the past 2-3 weeks on my server. It's $4k and change. So would charging 6k be a little too steep? Some of those Herbs are NOT easy to farm!

Please note theses guides are not always accurate. There have been times where I used a guide and it told me to buy way less of something in the "Approximate Materials Required"-list while in the list below it would tell me to use a lot more.

Yeah, I factored that in. My bank tab looks a LITTLE different as I included the "spares" I thought might be needed. I will also include a "mats guarantee" - if the guide is short on any mat, I will provide it for free, assuming of course the buyer is following the correct guide (I also based my list on the wow-professions list).

And worst case scenario, if I don't find a buyer - I will use everything myself and create a 3rd Alchemist!!

That guild bank idea is pretty brilliant!

I'm actually working on an oranges only flexible levelling guide spreadsheet for alchemy right now (basically it highlights whichever pattern would be cheapest for you to craft in each 5 point levelling period, 55-60, 60-65, etc, based on the herb prices you plug in).

The tricky thing with alchemy is that there are some periods where you need purchased patterns to have an absolute skillup. 85-90 and 150-155 are both sticky (unless you happen to have people that fish low level fishing pools... but most people don't bother in wrath and I was unable to find any of the low level fish when I was working on my paladin recently).

OP: I don't think you get to charge a farming premium, I think what you do is buy the mats only when they are below 45% of their average and then price the kit as if they all cost 60% of average. I really wouldn't farm at all.

Something that might be REALLY easy would be inscription, as you can easily downgrade inks of the sea to levelling inks.

You could sell the vials, I just never included them in my bank. I never sold 'kits" before, that is just in preparation for my army: / I would also put in the 2 recipes needed to level up:

Recipe: Philosopher's Stone

and

Recipe: Super Mana Potion

@scantron Yep, inscription is another one of those easy to level professions, so it would go for a lot cheaper. Something you could do with it is also include all the books of glyph mastery needed and all the mats for the researches to spike up the price.

I don't think you really want to do anything to spike up the price on an experiment like this, since for all we know no one would be interested and then you have to liquidate 4k in mats to get your money back!

That is why i wouldn't suggest trying it without a back up plan (i.e. using it for your army)
