Hi. First of all I wanted to say sorry about the title, my post does relate to both of the things listed but they aren't related to each other.
On my server I've been seeing Pristine Hides go for about 500-600g sometimes I see only ones for 1k+ so today when i logged on i saw 5 for 300g each, instead of instantly flipping them I decided to hold on till 4.2, would you the community say I'm making the right choice? I dont keep track of the leather market at all really because it doesn't play a big role on my professions but is 300g a common snatch price or are they usually much cheaper?(I only ask cause I'm barely pushing 12k gold and would hate to lose a large portion to one bad mistake :( )

Now to my Jewel crafting questions, I'm new to making good gold with my professions and keep hearing people say they make 11k gold in net profit or so with x amount of stack of elementium prospected well I try it and come up with maybe a few thousand or so. I take all my uncommons and make them into necks and all that for DE and keep the rare procs for sale on the AH(I sell the DE mats as I cant use them for anything, and i Xmute all carnelians into inferno rubies because i have a Xmute master), the rares I usually cut and sell for some gold too. Recently ive been holding on to almost all of my rares and waiting for the patch, because I'm thinking new gear= more gems needed and new recipies that require rare gems=more gems needed therefore increasing the price of the gems by a nice amount of gold per item. anyways my questions are what do you all think i could do to improve the net profit in my elementium ore shuffle? Is there anything specifically I should be looking at that could be holding me back such as when I sell items?(I shoot for 5-9 on most days except weekends, i only sell if I cant control myself then haha) Any of Ideas with the hide and the gems way off the mark? I play on the Kil'Jaeden US server. (my target goal is 100k gold, I'm far from it but I know its definitely within my reach with some help and strong advice)

Thanks in advance for any comments that this post receives:)
Edit:Tried to make post crit for a bit less than 9000(;

The thing that most gold makers don't explain.... It takes a lot of time, effort and knowledge to get to that point in time and it is not often sustainable.

I don't know much about leather so I'll leave that to someone else.

With Jewelcrafting, sounds about right. If you need gold up front (which often happens when you don't have a lot of capital), consider vendoring the uncut gems now before 4.2 comes out.

Also, learn to paragraph. If I missed anything its due to the wall of text critting me for over 9000.

Markup, you haz none :mrgreen:

Don't assume you'll be able to unload those Pristine Hides at a good markup when 4.2 hits,
Blizzard might have some unpleasant surprises up their sleeves ;)
Flip them now for an easy 1K profit (as you're sporting only 12K, that's some nice profit IMO)

As far as jewelcrafting goes, don't cut to vendor, even rare gems have more value uncut these days (5G each, just like the uncommons)
Only the red gems have value as gems (transmute to rares or turn into DE-fodder if the GCE market is that good)
Same goes for the rare gems, most of the non-red hardly sell above vendor (on my server, might be better on yours)

Well the price of the hides tanked early today, so I'll hold them till it perks back up(:
