I think your analysis assumes that people don't have any gold lying around uninvested. I'm assuming that most people here have more gold than they have ideas on what to do with it or time to spend working it.

As I mentioned in my post. if you have spare cash lying around its a much easier decision.

But I disagree with your assertion that it doesn't matter.

If you have spare cash, you should still consider the return you can make. As you'll still be limited by some factor (most likely time available to invest)

And if you push it out even further and assume limitless gold and unlimited time then the question becomes irrelevant. If you think you can make money off it, you should buy it.. otherwise you shouldn't.

And in this last scenario then you prob should try and buy these if you think you can get them cheap and resell them higher, just like any item - just don't hold on to them too long as they will devalue fairly fast

There's also two weeks left in the Fest. There's going to be a lot of these in the AH by then, so I expect the price to drop soon.

I'll need at least 2 of them for my (future) dwarf shaman, of course. I may even stay Enhancement for these.

I would buy these up for cheap. Slow off hands are very, very difficult to come by. If you aren't lucky to get the mace from heroic Toc, the Tankards are a grat option. They are also ilvl 226. I bought one up at 2k with intention to use. If i find cheap ones on the AH I plan on investing.

9 on my server's AH ranging 1555-6000, most about 2400.

I'd say it's probably worth it to invest in a few of the sub-2k auctions, buying towards the end of the fest is probably the best idea though, prices will have bottomed out and then you can resell slowly over the next year to new alts.

Currently 11 up on mine, from 4000g to under 1500g. I'm optimistic that I'll be able to pick some up soon, but I think my chances of reselling many for a profit will be slim until well after Brewfest.

Bought 4 under 1k yesterday, for personal use, 2 for my dk and 2 for my brothers rogue. They're very nice for BOE gear.
Planning on picking a few(as many as I can get) up later on for resale. I'm hoping I'll be able to get em for 500g in a week or so. When there's no supply left prices shoul be at least 1.5k, compared to other boe alternatives like Avool's and Totansteel.
