We have a 30k and above thread so here is the 100k one.

How did you get to your 100k?
Could you have done it without JMTC?
What "Gold Sinks" have you bought?

So to start :P

I got my 100k mainly through the Regular Gem market but also have an alchemist and an enchanter. Relly anything the raider needs I try to make sure is on the AH when they raid.

I wasnt reading JMTC when I made my 100k although I did read a lot of the gold blogs.

My 3 80's all have Epic flyers, the Darlan ring and im just too tight to spend money on a chopper or mammoth :P

First 100K was mostly from gems and dust, although a portion of it was from Tailoring to making more even more dust. My first character had 6g to his name after turning 70 and buying his epic flying mount, so that was kind of an incentive to not be poor again. A recent server transfer took me down to 25K, so my second "first" 100K came mostly from gems before I started to diversify.

I hadn't read any of the gold blogs or web sites during my first big push. I had worked in manufacturing and inventory management, so that helped to identify which professions could be turned into production lines, and which items could be sold at high volumes. Once the slush fund was started, I started flipping raw materials and it was all downhill after that.

Gold sinks...two epic fliers for me plus two more for friends, one Tundra Mammoth, one Kirin Tor ring, one Albino Drake, probably 20K in BoE epics. Considering what I've spent on my one 80, I'm almost afraid to finish leveling the three others that are in their 70's. I also used to change professions a lot - my main has had Tailoring, Mining, Engineering, Enchanting, Jewelcrafting, Alchemy, Tailoring, Inscription, Jewelcrafting, Mining, Alchemy, and Enchanting. My alts have their professions chosen at birth now.

I'll throw my new 100k hat in here, since the room is kinda empty.

Broke it rather recently, after seeing Gevlon's screenshot of his glyph factory, I decided to get in on the action. I said, "hey, I can do that."
few weeks later and here I am.

One character, one level 1 bank alt. Tailoring and Inscription, lots of research on what glyphs people want.

As far as gold sinks go... Everything except the mammoth and chopper. I will, in the end, buy them... but for now, looking at my gold total go up up up is so much more fun. (or, as you put it, Twinkle:)

Dunno what else to say, really. It was surprisingly easy, and doesn't take much time out of my day.

I earned my first 15k with pure AH flipping, then the beloved Prospect->Craft->DE and cut and sell the cut gems made me my first 100k. I was well on my way with it before I started reading JMTC, but I'm sure JMTC made it happen a whole lot faster.

As for goldsinks, the Kirin Tor ring on my main is about it, had epic flyer before I started AH flipping. I've held back with the chopper and mammoth mainly because it's just achievements and I'd rather hit the goldcap sooner.

I made my fortunes via disenchanting. On the road to Loremaster you find yourself doing several thousand quests. With every quest giving gold and a green / blue you find yourself swimming in rare dusts and essences. The lvl 40-55 quests give essences that sell for 25-35g each on my server, with each quest green resulting in 3-4 essences.

Also I was the main abuser of void shatters back in the black temple days. I would turn 40g void crystals into two 25g Large Prismatic Shards. These shards also had a near unlimited market, I could sell 75-200 a night.

My fortune is about 150k liquid and approximately another 30k in inventory. I would say 80% of my gold is from inscription and 20% from JC.

I levelled inscription in late April and started making about 500g per day manually undercutting people. After I started learning more glyphs, the time required to manually cancel and relist drove me to find a way to be more efficient , eventually leading me here. The first week I got going with QA was a revelation, earning me about 8k. As I filled in the gaps with my research, my competitors had nowhere to hide. I have almost completely punted all the established scribes from the glyph business on my server and I now earn about 15-20k per week with about 1000 glyphs up at any given time. I have been quite fortunate to not encounter any scribes either as motivated as me or organized (nobody uses QA on my server).

I haven't really spent anything on gold sinks except a few BoEs.

I am going to retire temporarily from glyphs once I hit 200k and work on a couple spoiled alts. Right now I am also having alot of fun with the epic gems market. They are selling for about 100-150g uncut and a bunch of JC have formed a cartel to keep the prices at 350g for cut gems. I have started buying up all the uncut gems 200g and under and cutting/relisting them for 250g on all cuts. Its fun to log on, buy all the uncut inventory, cut and list them and sell them all out in 5 minutes. Of course its the cartel buying them out which I don't mind. I just made 1000g for 10 minutes work. I dont think they are going to be able to sustain these prices (or desire to by out my 250g gems) so I flood the market every opportunity I get. Of course my only bottleneck is uncut gems not money to buy them...the rich get richer

I can't recall my first 100K but my second 100K came from .. prospecting (gems) and DE/Enchants. I have over 100K when i found this forum , still its a good place for information. I am now looking to see how far and how fast i can make gold ..
My money sink is to the guild for hard mode kills and final raid boss kills .. over 50K sink promoting good attitude and hard work by guild members .

I hope to see more in the 100K club and looking forward to the .5 Mill club

Oh, I guess I ended up in the wrong thread. Can you give me directions to the 200k club?

How did I get my 100k? Hmm, I did have quite a decent cash flow already at the end of Burning Crusade, mainly from disenchanting and having hopped to the jewelcrafting bandwagon. At the start of Wrath, or at least at patch 3.0 I made my first big leap towards 100k by gathering herbs in anticipation of Inscription. Those ended up almost tripling my initial investments. After using some of the stash to level a scribe of my own, I pretty much shelved the tradeskill for few months. But stumbling upon Gevlon's posts I revisited glyphs as a money maker and found the markets to be almost empty on my server. I think they were the final thing that helped me reach 100k around patch 3.1 with all the dual speccing madness. I used to just batch post my glyphs for 48h with Auctioneer, but after I had somewhat of a nasty undercutter, I had to get into the cancelling/reposting business with glyphs and ended up finding this place and Quick Auctions addon.

Glyph market with QA, heavy investing in Titanium ore and cutting gems are nowadays my main profit sources. Occasionally helped by some flasks, enchanting materials, occasional spellthreads and bags kept me going, and not really having that much to spend my gold I managed to hit 200k just after 3.2

Could you have done it without JMTC?
Well, I actually did it before, but JMTC has definitely helped a lot afterwards, and has become my routine to check through during my everyday morning coffee and glyph repost session. :)

What "Gold Sinks" have you bought?
2 dual specs and 4 epic flyers, if you can count them as gold sinks. :) The real stuff is mainly the vendor mammoth and a bike for my alt (doesn't fit my main. :)), 3 kirin tor rings, 3 greatness decks (and few of the cheaper decks) and I think around 20k or so for BoEs to outfit one tank set and 2 dps sets as good as money can buy.

Recently having broken the 100k mark myself, I guess I can add my 2 coppers here as well...

Most of my fortune was acquired between the launch of 3.0 until about 3 months ago, and the main working horse was inscription. Not Gevlon style, but just hopping on my scribe once per day, keeping track of what sold, and making more of that.

The interesting thing to note has to do with Gevlon though: I made my fortune on the same realm & faction as he did, at the same time, and using the same market (Arathor EU, horde side, inscription). One way to look at that would be to say that Gevlon didn't milk out his position enough, if he let scrubs like me earn a fortune as well :).

Another thing to note is related to why I used the past tense above: the moment Gevlon's main moved to another realm and he stopped producing glyphs coincided with the QA addon becoming popular - a few folks on my realm are using it now, and the result is not pretty: the market has crashed completely. Personally I'm not using QA and therefore selling only 10-20 glyphs per week now anymore, so my income sources have moved mostly to other markets.

Right now I have simply lowered my efforts to get more golds, as it seems I have enough to feed my stableful of alts for a while :D

Could I have done it without JMTC? Well, given that I did most of it before even becoming aware of JMTC, I'm afraid the answer would be yes. Still, one's never too old to learn.

What gold sinks did I buy? Mostly I'm using it to equip my many many characters - the day 3.2 launched I bought a bunch of Tome of Cold Weather Flight for several alts in the 68-77 level range, for instance.

Wow, that is REALLY interesting. Way to wedge in there and take the gold from the guy so many people think of as "the master."
