Well the reason why I started it was because in my mind once you hit 25k-30k, you're in the realm of wealth. Lol it's just a sort of a realization of mine and was just wondering how they hit that amount of money :D

The first 10K is for expenses - epic flier, cold weather flying, dual spec, a crafting profession.

The next 20K is for bling - tundra mammoth, vanity mount, phat BoE epics.

Beyond 30K lies madness.

(I plan on wiping all my bankers after the 3.2 chaos passes, and I've already dropped the bulk of my crafters. There comes a point where you just have to walk away and let the baby keep his candy.)

While I am only sitting on about 2g (and have a long way till I hit 30k, I have found that my main motivation to play the ah has been more anxiety driven rather then to extend my sexy epeen.

I don't want to ever hit a road block in this game caused by not having gold. For example, on my first toon, after about a week playing, I identified that the lvl 30 mount needed a (relativly) large amount of gold. So I needed to make gold, the research I did pointed me in the direction of the AH and I have never looked back.

Plus, as the AH is the best form of PvP in the game, my sociopathic side gets a real kick out of undercutting blue gems by 1 copper :)

I remember how hard I worked for my first 5.2k gold for the epic flyer. I scrimped and mined my little heart out. I was pretty crushed after I bought it though, watching that kind of gold vanish is a bit hard to swallow when that is all you have. I reasoned though that as a paladin with crusader aura and mining as a profession an epic flyer was a 'tool' for the work and was a justified expense (although at the time others didn't agree).

I had the same reasoning with the Tundra's mammoth. Its big and ugly but it brings so many benefits that its made my gaming experience more enjoyable.

Oh yeah I also enjoy AH PvP the most because you're hitting the guy where it hurts, the hip pocket!

I was left with 6g after buying my epic flier, just minutes after turning 70. (I've never used a slow flier.) I remember staring at that "6" and thinking what a horrible mistake I had made. It was definitely an incentive to never run out of money again.

(The Tundra Mammoth dropped me to 85K on WotLK release day. Most of the people in my guild thought I was just blowing smoke about having 100K gold, so the achievement caused a small riot after it splashed up.)

I walked into Wrath with maybe 5000g - 6000g.

In 3.0, I fluttered around and slowly brought that up to 10000g.

Late in 3.0 I started working on getting gold. On the day 3.1 hit, I made 25k with inscription bringing my total up to about 70k. I thought I was loaded. Then I found someone in our guild that had over 100k. This motivated me to work out how to make lots of gold to beat her.

In a week and a half I get my total up to 120k and thought I had beaten her. She was already at about 140k by then. About 40k later, I get a bee in my bonnet and decide I want all the Glyph Mastery books. The problem? They were selling for about 1500g-2500g at the time. So about 90k worth of books later, I've successfully collected the whole set.

It took about 2 and a half weeks or lots of slaving on the AH to recoup that back.

Since then, the most I've hit is about 240k after lots of heavy spending.

Looking forward to 3.2

I returned to WoW after a long break, thus having about 3000g and quite a bit of capital. I farmed vanity pets, sold em.

Then ... I decided to start Inscription, after hitting about 34k, and spending 14k on my fresh 80 (Quit before leveling my warrior all the way). So, I started Inscription with 20k, and now after flipping a few items, and selling decks/glyphs. I am up to about 60-70kg worth of cash and capital.

I hope to hit 100kg before the summer is out, I just have to keep up the Inscription drive. Bringing in 1500-2000g daily.

The two most recent items I've flipped with excellent success have been a Hyacinth Macaw (Bought on the AH for 6500g, resold to a customer for 20,000g) and I am currently in process of flipping an Assassin's Blade (bought one up for 1000g, hope to resell for 2000-3000g over the course of the week.)

Some of the numbers here make me want to cry LOL. I'm sitting at around 9k right now even though I'm not quite sure how I got it hehe. I still have to get up to around 25.5k though so I can get my Mage epic flying / cold weather flying / dual spec and a nobles deck and a choppa (ok so I don't "need" this one but come on, it looks awesome). I'll get there eventually around the end of WoTLK maybe lol. I think I'm just too scared to try an industry like JC + DE because i really don't want it to not work out even though i have both a JC and Enchanter =/

Currently at 110k gold but ive slowed down took 3 months to get there (alreayd have the mammoth/choppe/5 epic flyers (5 80s).. (this market fails as its a small pop server on horde side) ..

Slowing down atm.. not going full bore making money anymore.. just dabbling here and there to pay for raid repairs/food/pots/upgrades

Im pretty much controlling the AH on JC on this realm horde side and will be setting the prices once 3.2 (that reminds me i gotta put up a post) comes out but atm CBF
