I finally did it! I hit the cap about a week ago. I would've posted earlier, but I forgot my username/password for this forum so I ended up just creating a new one.

I haven't really been too intense about this goal, but it's been something i've wanted to do since i decided i wanted every profession maxed out about a year or 2 ago. Since then i've been casually watching the gold pile up :). It's not a really populated realm, so I feel pretty good about this. lol.

Oddly enough, I hit the cap using primarily blacksmithing. I have all the professions maxed out on my alts at this point and they all helped out a lot, but my main money-maker has always been blacksmithing. Those ICC blacksmithing patterns have earned me about 100,000 gold alone since they came out. Also the savage saronite gear sells like hot-cakes on my server.

I hit the cap yesterday after about 4-6 weeks of moderate effort.

By far the largest portion of my gold came from GDKP runs. I do 3 ICC25, 2 RS25, and 2 ToC25 runs every single week, and probably make around 20k per week from these, not counting the BoEs I buy and flip for a moderate profit. Seriously, if you aren't doing these (or attempting to throw one together if none are running on your realm), kick yourself. It's free gold!

Surprisingly enough, another good portion of my income came from JC dailies. I have 6 JCs at level 80, so I was cranking out 6 Nightmare Tears every day during that period. I actually started turning in tokens for Nightmare Tears earlier than I should have, and I'm missing several of the decent epic cuts because of it. Oh well, it's hard to find enough gem supply on Stormrage anyways.

The rest of my gold came from a lot of different things. Netherweave Bags, Eternal Belt Buckles, Mining and LW bags from Leatherworking (these are amazingly profitable for whatever reason), Rare Gems, Epic Gems, Chaotic/Relentless Meta Gems, Glyphs (which is an awful, horrible market on Stormrage and I can't wait to get out of it) and a small amount of Lichbloom and Frost Lotus that I farm while waiting for my daily heroic queue to pop.

I was set back 30k or so gearing out my new boomkin though :(

Finally got to see the "at gold limit" message! Hooray! Rewarded myself with a Traveler's Tundra Mammoth. :D

Finally kept myself from spending more money on alts and their needs (epic flying/dual-specs/gearing toon for off-spec) and hit the gold cap last week. The bulk of my gold came from playing the auction house and a steady profit came from professions output. Next goal: 500k which I will probably hit after Cata comes out.

I just cracked 300k a couple days ago -- I'd really like to hit 500k by Cataclysm, but it might be close. I doubt my stock is enough:

~18 of every glyph except charred, and herbs to finish the stacks after milling.
2 of every epic gem (except about 5) on the AH and a stack of each uncut gem.
Eternals and rare gems to make 100+ of each epic gem after cooldown is removed.
1 tab of uncommon gems - I cut and post as needed but the rest might get d/e'd with Eternal earth.
2 bank tabs of enchanting mats (mostly infinite dust but about 300 abyss crystals too)
2 bank tabs of saronite ore

I stopped making flasks when I switched to my alch to transmute spec last week. At one point I had 500 ea of stoneblood, frost wyrm and endless rage but they are almost all gone (80 stoneblood left.)

I also need to get my ench/insc DK from 71 to 75 so I can max his professions when cataclysm comes out.

80 Druid (JC/LW)
80 Warlock (Herb/Alch)
71 DK (Ench/Inscription)

Misc low-level alts hold and post the glyphs.

Fun, fun...

Edit: thought I should add I'd be a lot closer except I bought about 50k "worth" of stuff in ICC GDKP runs and also bought a tundra mammoth, motorcycle, dalaran ring, and Haris Pilton bag to spam achieves on guild one day :)
