Skill cap will be 525 (Skill Cap raised to 525 - “Illustrious” ) from the WoW-Cataclysm Compilation thread.

I do think the green gems will raise in price for all the new JCs and what not. I buy cheap ones now just for leveling all my JC toons and for enchanting mats.

Another thought we had was if the heirloom items would work or not. From the twitter chat the other day came this:

Q. Are heirloom items and the recruit a friend system going to work at the start of Cataclysm, in particular for Worgens?

A. Most likely heirlooms. For recruit a friend, we'll have to see. We understand some players want to get to the end game as fast as possible. Maybe the realm first achievements should state "without XP bonuses." :)

So it is a safe bet to stock up on the twink type enchants and such for BoA gear.

Shhhhhhh....

What? The cheaper I can get them to dump them, the less I have to pay while stocking up.

Is this microphone on...?

I really like the idea of the profession leveling kit i may try to set this up now as folks start leveling alts (waht else are they going to do when not raiding ICC once they have all that badge gear)

Defiantly going to deal in bags may even attempt to do something like offer all the mats needed to level alchemy as a kit along with a alchemy bag and 16 slotter

Enchanting mats will still be in demand i am sure. I see another version of the saronite shuffle coming for Cat but it will only last a short period of time due to the DE options for dungeons.

Materials to feed professions and the leveling of professions. even if they make it easier there will still be more folks that will buy their levels via the AH then there will be those that farm the mats.

Thanks again for the kit idea Zam never would of thought of that one and it makes perfect sense. I may even attempt this before Cat to see how it flies with folks alts.

After reading this I noticed these things come up the most.

1) Gems
2) Enchants/ Enchant Scrolls
3) Bags
4) Lvling kits- Alchemy/Engineering

Is this a general consensus to start stocking up on? Or will they most likely have new gems/enchants and such that it will be worthless?

There will be two main markets...those rerolling worgs and goblins, in need of levelling goods....and those racing to climb from 80 to level 85 and all that entails.

Depending on how new patterns for the new "catagems" are to be learned, Wrathepicgems will remain desireable. Epic gems will eventually (1 month or 1 day)take the place that Blue-quality gems currently enjoy....a cheaper alternative to the new "uber level" gems the expansion will undoubtedly bring. Current Blue-quality gems will retain a little value for those re-rollers mentioned above. At least in the short term.

Chances are they will design some formula for using either Blue quality and/or epic quality gems inthe creation of the new Catagems for alchies.

We can also deterime that with Blizz dropping a number of modifiers (spellpower etc), there will be far fewer cuts for a JC to learn. Meaning that the field is going to be more competitive than before as the dorks race to drive the prices into the basement for the first week.

For Cata i really think the big money in jc will be having a stable of alchemists to xmute from.

I also think with the shrinkage of the learnable patterns in cata that maybe jc won't be a hot profession anyway?

P.S. Markco planning any contests etc yet in case the site gets awarded beta keys??

With the stat changes I suspect a few JCs will quit the prof, while the rest of us may have little lower profits. I'm very curious what scribes are going to get. Alchemy, JC, enchanting, etc. can just get better +stat items and such. Since glyphs are more skill/talent based and blizz stated no new "talents" what will they do for the 450 - 525 levels. Other then scrolls, new vellums, and a few more off-hand items.

I still think the archeology prof will be a huge money maker for the first few months. Everyone is going to want to open up their "titan" stuff. If we can sale some of the artifacts and such we find it is possible to make a killing. Remember the 40k+ battered hilts and such. Or the cobalt bars going for 100g or more a stack.

It's been hinted that the dwarf racial find treasure may help in archeology. This is from the small little dev chat they did last week, week before.

As of now I have 1/2 a guild bank tab full of netherweave cloth, about a dozen imbued frostweave cloth stacks, and lots of runecloth. Still not sure if the runecloth will be worth keeping or not for rep turn-in. Working on stacks of ore, gems, and odd ball items like large fangs.

Remember the epic gem patch? Titanium stacks went from like 20-30g to 300g? Know what's gonna happen in Cataclysm? A repeat, that's what. I'll be stockpiling the new highest-level ore. Good reason to keep mining on my DK actually.

On the other hand, Eternium and Khorium turned out to be total duds. I stockpiled the stuff waiting for these to become prospectable, and they're still sitting in the bank.

The big question is if Blizzard is going to try and fit 3 levels of gems into just 5 levels of play. If there's a missing level of gems at the start of Cataclysm, then the gambling begins to figure out where they're going to come from.

So, I have a suggestion on an item to keep your eye on.

Sealed Vial of Poison. Comes from the fishing daily reward bag. As far as I have read, the quest IS repeatable so long as you have the item and rewards some gold, some rep, and some experience.

Might prove to be a good way to make some money selling it in Cataclysm as those Goblins and Worgens race their way to 85. Thoughts?
