MMO released a ton of information on 4.3 including a list of upcoming new epic gems.

Sixty-six new patterns.

Go check out their posting and come back here so we can all speculate and complain about how one goes about getting their paws on a Tome of Burning Jewels, the only confirmed way (thus far) of getting a new pattern.

Oh noooo! I've been saving my JC tokens for the epic patterns, I have like 40 or something. And I guess the tome will drop from raids, which I'm not going to do. This is such a buzzkill, I was so looking forward to epic gems.
As for speculation, if the tome will give you random recipes, like the book of glyph mastery, that means, one will be very lucky to get one of the popular ones, as there will be less competition. The person who gets +strength or +intellect first will make a fortune with it.

Someone pointed out that if you look up the Wowhead listing for the Tome, if you check out the right side, it indicates that the item is "refundable"....and that implies that it may be sourced from a vendor (at some point in time, if not initially) in exchange for either current JC tokens, new JC tokens, the new 4.3 high end, raid dropped crafting ingredient...or any combination.

I'd suggest not dumping all those saved jc tokens just yet.

I just noticed that the tome is BoP. I think it will be sold by vendors for something, not dropped, because I doubt blizzard wouldn't give non-raiding JCs the chance to craft. I'll probably keep my tokens for a while, untill we get more info.

Until we get more info from the PTRs on how the tome works and the patterns works.
At the least it's better to hold steady and not go into a complete panic.

How many PTR "ideas" has the developers put in, only at the last minute change their mind because they couldn't get it programmed. Also hearing that epic gems might be transmutable
so who knows what options will be available.

I know this is old news, but from what I remember seeing, the Tome costs 4 JC tokens and gives you a random cut, while choosing specific patterns costs 5 tokens.
