It's an "ability" you learn from a quest in howling fjord (at least i got mine there) from JC trainer. It allows a chance that, while being cut, uncommons will become "perfect .... (whatever you been cutting)"
It ups then to be almost as good as the rares of same "stat". And hence the vendor price ups =)

Blazing Citrine Ring should be Crystal Citrine Necklace.

Thanks, fixed it. I was trying to redraw the new version from memory (and failed).

I'm feeling a little retarded right now. I get the diagram as far as what makes what, but as to what to actually do with it to make gold efficiently is out of my grasp atm. I'm not asking to be spoonfed here. I tried searching saronite shuffle for a thread that goes into more detail, but anyone successful with the saronite shuffle just links or copies the diagram.

Am I just simple and beyond hope? Or is there somewhere on the forums that I haven't been able to find that will get me moving in the right direction? Or is it simply that the rings, etc. are your options to create, and as far as profitability you just go from there to spreadsheet your realm's specific values to find out which items are worth it or not?

I think you're looking too hard at it to be honest. It simply means prospect ore, make necklaces and rings with the green quality gems which are then disenchanted. On many servers, the returns from selling the enchanting mats pay for the ore allowing the blue quality gem cuts to be pure gravy.

For more info, I've posted a spreadsheet in one of these threads where you can enter your realm's prices.

Zam's diagram just helps people remember what items can be created from which raw materials. Sort of a consolidated crafting list. It's useful for, say, when you want to make Jade Dagger Pendants but can't remember which gems they require.

I drew the first one because I kept forgetting which gems and eternals I needed save for crafting metadiamonds. It's just to cut back on brain farts while prospecting through a few hundred stacks of saronite.

Are perfects just a rare cut? Or is it a separate pattern?

It's a "uncommon" proc of an "uncommon" cut where you get a gem with better stats,
it's trained by the JC-trainer after doing a simple quest.
In the early days of WOTLK you could make good money with those,
now most people just want epic gems all the way.

EDIT: I just saw it was answered earlier

I regularly sell a few shadows on the AH at profit above the 'perfect' vendor price. I have no idea why, but I'm not knocking it! So I advise everyone to try it now and again: although I have so many that cutting/vendoring is also necessary most days.
