So WoW Confidential has gold forums...

After seeing that you have to pay over $7 to get access to http://www.wowconfidential.com/'s forums, I'm feel more thankful that I don't have to pay to use JMTC forums.^^
Anyone else felt this way, or have any thoughts on their new forums?

There is no way to guess how valuable the info in the forums is but right now I'm fairly sure it won't be much better then in here. Although they might have just stolen all useful info from these forums and nicely indexed and stuff without all the "useless" questions and other random stuff between the topics (and it's hard to claim copyright on stuff you can't see, if Markco even cares).

I wouldn't ever enter some paid membership for info about how to get WoW gold. It feels too much like buying gold. I would rather have the option to donate to something so it's out of free will and it goes well with my morals.

I'd be interested in a preview to see how well these forums are (out of curiosity) but I won't ever pay for access to it.

He will get a few "students" a month and share his tricks without putting them out there publicly and making them useless.

I can understand a new player or a clumsy poor player sign up and get to ask a few specific questions.

wingman, one of the resident admins here runs wowconfidential and that forum. I don't see anything wrong with an entrepreneur trying to make his way in the world but that being said I think it's going to be hard to compete with a free site. As stated already, the new forum will probably serve newer players who need personal attention and don't feel like wading through the forums here for their answers. Might as well create like a tutorial service and charge people hourly. I wish him the best of luck, he's been a great admin here and I hope he sticks around.

I would not be surprised if they get 10-20 subscriptions. People like attention(Ask a question and get a response fast) and some people got the cash to fork , i would see people that buy gold going for this , since its legal and they cannot get banned for it or spammed by the foreign gold sellers.

Just not an interesting offer to us.

Would probably be a nice service for new players and late Cataclysm players. We keep our tricks to ourselves when the expansions comes out or else they get hot fixed.

Yes i am talking about the Borean Pants Vendor and Cobalt Chest DE or even the Shields or the Pants Blue DE...there was a lot of these in Lich King and it took a while to get fixed , we all exploited these in our little corners and revealed it when they announced to fix it or the patch notes was talking about it.

I'm going to be watching their forums with great interest, you can see the number of members here: http://www.wowconfidential.com/forum/forum.php at the bottom of the site. 5 Threads, 8 posts, 28 members. Not bad for the first day and being a pay to use site.

One benefit they'll have is no spam since robots won't be able to get in without paying the $6.95 per month. I think the reason for that pricing is actually because sites like clickbank.com won't go any lower than that for subscriptions.

The JMTC forum really doesn't make the kind of money it could be making. For instance adsense ads for July made $97 and there were $62.85 in premium upgrade sales. Not all months are this successful (there are more people playing in the summer which helps) but as long as it's as much or more than site hosting costs I have no problems. The goal of this forum was to create a place for free ideas to flourish, not make insane amounts of money for myself. When I implemented the premium upgrade option adsense was only making about $20 a month so I felt the need to find a way outside of donations to pay for hosting costs.

No I don't, I've just written a few articles there. Kraklin owns / runs it and is often found lurking in the JMTC IRC channel which is #jmtc on any quakenet server (as are a few of us).

It truly is a great site however... but you'd probably have to ask him for the specifics on the forums, or read the details on the site.

After reading the contents a bit, I have to agree that the articles are pretty good. I hope it works out well for both WoW Confidential and it's customers.
