Has anyone checked out Rift and could give me another opinion? I played it on the trial and found the max to be 15 =/. I enjoy playing WoW but Rift felt like a good break. It seems very very much like WoW in layout, well everything short of rifts and classes that I've experienced so far. The thing i think keeping me on WoW is the time i already have invested in my chars and the wealth i have.
So i guess my questions are what are your opinions on:
Rifts long term survivability as an MMO?
Stability of an economy?
How boring how quick?
Fun on a scale of 1-10 for you?

I played it for about 3 weeks and in my opinion its very much like WoW but without all the polish that WoW got during its lifetime. Therefore I saw no reason to stick with Rift.

The quests are very boring. Like quests were during classic WoW (kill x mobs, gather y items), and not like it has progressed in Cataclysm.

The Rifts themselves are pretty cool. Basically there are invasions from demons in the various zones. Go near an invasion rift and you would be asked if you want to join a public group for it. If there are any players nearby you can semi-automatically group up with them to close the Rift. As reward you get items sort of like the badges that used to be in WoW you can use to buy good items for your level.

I really miss addons too! The auction-house interface is like WoW standard. IMO the Rift developers should have taken some ideas from Auctioneer/Auctionator and not just copy the bad standard-interface that WoW has.

That said, the developers of Rift are very active and I occasionally check the Rift forums if anything worthwhile is being implemented that would make me come back.

One of their recent developments is a LFG tool like WoW, but not cross-realm.

I got it because a RL mate got it and wanted me to play with him. I found it to be an un-inspiring version of WoW and AoC, lacking the great quests of WoW and while having similar graphics to AoC, i felt that the soundtrack was rubbish and i was just unable to immerse myself in it. I think it'll survive as an mmo, there are no low-pop servers as such, most are medium pop. Economy seems fairly stable, not as developed as WoW's naturally.

Overall a 5 for me. On the other hand my friend really liked it.

Scratch one of my critiques. Addon button has appeared in the latest PTR version of RIFT. How much will be possible via addons remain to be seen. If we will see auctioneer style addons and something like Vuhdo/Healbot I might resub.
