I'm a pretty big fan of using both auction houses to make profit. Lately I've been buying the designs for the new meta cuts on Alliance, where they're plentiful for 3-9k, and selling them on horde for 15-20k. This has left me with a large amount of gold on Hordeside that I'd like to move back to Alliance.

I've scoured the AH and everything they have is higher priced than Alliance so I can't find items I could just buy and flip back to sell. I'd rather not take a neutral AH cut on my gold by just moving it straight across with a valueless item so I'm trying to find items I can use to get a roughly equal amount of gold over.

I know that the 5k fortune cards are popular when transfering servers, does it work equally well if you put them on the Neutral AH?

Any other advice for moving gold across, minus faction transferring a toon?

If you are not using Auctioneer, you need to google 22 steps to auctioneer.
Auctioneer has a great function called arbitrage. This function will tell you exactly what is the most profitable to move back and forth..its great.
I have 2 accounts just using this function and it makes me a lot of gold.

I'm assuming from your post that you are moving things across for 1 copper and avoiding the nutral AH 15%. The 5k cards are fine cross faction but their deposit is very high. Do you have a goblin? If so use the 20% goblin discount to get some high priced vendor items (portable holes, vendor mats for the vial of the sands). Check the deposits first on the vendor items.... the 5k vial for the vial of sands has almost no deposit but the deposit on the sands of time is very high.

I'm well aware of Auctioneer though I find it lackluster for most practices. Arbitration, as you can tell by my first post, is something I delve into quite a bit and I don't need an addon telling me something I already know and lagging my searches out to do it. :3

I would be using a goblin horde-side, thanks for the tip on all those other vendor items. I'd thought about Vial of the Sands mats but hadn't even thought about things like portable holes. Hell, I even want a few of those on my main!

Look at pets and mounts. Think about getting the new alchemy mount made and transferring those over.

It's all an exercise in simple math. If you're doubling your gold with the patterns, then you can buy something that is 20% more expensive and transfer that over to sell and you'd be ahead... but at 20%, you'd be better off taking the 15% neutral AH hit.

Failing that, if EVERYTHING is that much cheaper on that side take the 15% hit to transfer it over.

The other option is to leave the gold on there and wait for better opportunities to make gold in the switch back.

I actually had an idea for this that might work, but you might have to pay a percentage for the transfer.

Bring both characters to Booty Bay and put something up in the Auction House there with the character that you want to transfer the money to. Put a grey item on the AH for a ridiculous price, switch toons and have the richer toon buyout the auction. It should work, but like I said I haven't tried. I haven't seen anyone else post on this method, and I hope it works for you. If not, trying it won't lose anything.

It works fine as long as the toons are on different accounts. However, the normal AH (in SW or Org) takes 5% of the sales price... the nutral AH (like the one in booty bay) takes 15%. To cross faction most effectively, you try to avoid the 15% nutral AH fee.

Auctioneer really finds the differences in house to exploit...I would stick to volatile prices differences, herbs, plate, cut gems and glyphs...I move tons of stuff cross faction.
